Willem de Geus is a Co-founder and Senior Advisor of Proprium Capital Partners, L.P.

Prior to launching Proprium, Willem was a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Global and Asian Portfolio Manager of Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Special Situations Funds, based out of Singapore

Willem spent over 16 years working at Morgan Stanley holding various roles for the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing Platform. Willem joined Morgan Stanley in January 1997 in their Amsterdam office as portfolio manager of the European real estate securities business and helped to grow the business from inception to $500 million of assets under management. He relocated to Morgan Stanley’s London office in 2001 to assist in developing the Morgan Stanley Euro Zone Office Fund. After which, he became the Global co-head of Morgan Stanley’s Private Equity Capital Markets Group in charge of capital raising for Morgan Stanley’s proprietary private real estate funds and third party private real estate fund products. In 2008, Willem assumed the role of Asian portfolio manager for Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Special Situations Funds and relocated to Singapore.

Before joining Morgan Stanley, he worked in the international real estate department of the Dutch Metalworkers Pension fund (MN Services) from August 1993.

He graduated from the Radboud University of Nijmegen in 1991 with a Drs. in City Planning with a specialization in Real Estate. He also received a MSc. in Real Estate and Finance from Pennsylvania State University in 1993. In addition he finished his Dutch Financial Analyst Exam in 1999 (CEFA, Certified European Financial Analyst).
